HAND EMBROIDERED APRON
In this class we: will keep our hands busy, explore composition/layout, create an heirloom piece to be worn in the kitchen, garden, ceramics studio etc. It is unlikely that you will finish all of your embroidery during our class time, however, I anticipate all design/layout work will be completed with a good portion of the embroidery underway!
Good for:
-those who like structure AND loosey goosies who think outside the box
-spending the day with yourself (and a handful of additional sweethearts)
-committing to the bit
Guaranteed offering: you’ll take away a natural fiber apron and any materials needed to finish your piece (embroidery thread, needle)
The finer details
Each participant will be provided with an adjustable cotton apron. You may choose from a mass manufactured cotton apron (class cost $100) or a heavier weight cotton apron (class cost $150) I have sewn, to offer a higher quality, washability and long term use. You will have your own station set up with an apron template to work on design development. Participants will ether draw or trace or tape their designs onto the template then transfer onto apron with pencil or pen or fill with fabric markers- this entire process will be instructed on. I will have flash drawings you’re welcome to use, or please bring your own drawings/ideas along! If you like structure lots of planning can be done, if you like freedom there is room to be loose and see what happens!
Once our apron designs are locked in there will be brief instruction on: setting up fabric in an embroidery hoop, threading a needle, stitching on a line, and stitching/filling in an object. We will spend the rest of our time hand stitching our designs onto our aprons, and chatting with our new pals.
Water, tea and coffee are also provided, you’re welcome to peruse the fridge and purchase culture pop/wine by the glass if you wish!
