PLUSHIE PETS ($60)

  • 1027 Grand Street Brooklyn, NY, 11211 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

In this class we: will do a little stuffing, and a little hand stitching, and definitely put all the pets on display. maybe you’ll make individual ornaments, perhaps you’ll string them on a little chain, the options are endless.

Good for:

-making a little holiday gift for a loved one, or some handmade decorations for around your home

-having a forever memory of a beloved animal(s)

-a little laugh or a prolonged awwwwwwwwwww

Guaranteed offering: you’ll take away 3 mini (approx 2”-3”) plushie pets, if you want to make more, feel free to add on at check out.

The finer details
Each participant will submit 3 photos of silly animals to me (via email) prior to class. I’ll have each photo printed onto fabric and machine sewn (to form the plushie shape) prior to class. Once you arrive you will be instructed on how to turn your pieces inside out to reveal your mini pet plushies, how to stuff the pieces, sew them closed, and finally attach a string to hang from the top or from the back. The instruction portion of this class is short and sweet, so most of our time will be spent with our handiwork, looking at everyone’s plushie pets and chatting with our new pals.

Re: what photos work best:
Animals heads, animals curled up into a ball, an animal sitting- think circular or square shaped vs letter ‘H’ shaped. You can submit your own pets, or friends pets, funny pets from the Internet, moo deng, I don’t personally care, and I think the reveal will be very funny and cute. Please see my own examples of my cats for an idea of what to expect.

Photos that are high quality…. anything shot IRL on a cellphone/digi camera. A photo taken a cel phone of a film photo from your childhood is likely not going to work for this project.
